James Norton, Director of Business Development, is a key member of the the Railroad Software team. A 2nd generation railroader with 17 years in the railroad industry in multiple operating capacities including Train Dispatcher, Trainmaster, Director of Operations, Superintendent, and General Manager, Mr. Norton brings with him a wealth of experience.
Mr. Norton’s lifelong career in the railroad industry managing multiple terminals with thousands of customers makes him uniquely suited for his role as Director of Business Development. It is exactly this background and experience that shaped Mr. Norton’s vision for accurate, easy to use tracking tools, a vision that found a perfect partnership with Railroad Software. “Data visibility has always been a priority to me,” Norton says. “Being able to evaluate performance inside each of my terminals was critical to effective conference calls and daily planning. Developing reports that I would review with my respective teams regarding each of their terminals was critical for the development of process improvement plans, which may include: train arrival/departure adjustments, yard blocking adjustments, and evaluation of the Transportation Service Plan (TSP) for on-time performance.”
